Team Kitaco winning in the Steampunk Capital of the World

This weekend saw us in Oamaru, self-proclaimed Steampunk Capital of the World and the legendary town in Central Otago where the world record for the largest gathering of steampunks in the world was set in August 2016.

The last two days saw a gathering of a different sort of "punk" in Oamaru, however, with 2 All-Breed shows hosted by the North Otago Kennel Association and 2 Toy Shows hosted by the Southland/Otago Toy Dog Club..

The most exciting thing about the weekend for Team Kitaco, however, wasn't the great location, our very satisfying results, the great company of friends or the delicious Central Otago wines (so much wine!). It was the South Island debut of our newest honorary Team Kitaco member, Emma (I EM MA Duchess of Tribble), the delightful Pomeranian puppy belonging to Trish Tribble of Tribble Kennels. Emma will be campaigning with us for a few months, before returning to her North Island home later in the year.

With a new litter on the ground and a fairly good idea of how things might pan out under at least 1 judge on the weekend, we decided not to bother with the rest of the team and only had one Chihuahua entered in the Oamaru shows - Kyrie (NZ CH Kitaco's Valkyrie Warrior). As usual, she was a delight to show. She has such a great temperament, a perfect 6x6 bite, her mother's brilliant topline and her father's spectacular reach and drive on the move, which made her a stand out in a large field of contenders. Out of the 4 shows Kyrie took 3 Best Bitch CC's, a Best of Breed, 2 Reserve Best of Breeds and 4 Best Junior of Breeds.

Not to be outdone by her new best friend, Emma the Pom announced her arrival in the South Island with 4 Best of Breeds, 4 Best Bitch CCs and 4 Best Puppy of Breeds. We are thrilled that Trish has entrusted her precious little girl to us. Not only is she a fabulous little personality, Emma is the winner of multiple Best Puppy of Group, Best Baby of Group and a Best Baby Puppy in Show. Can't wait to see how she fares down here in the crazy South Island.
