We are so thrilled! Ava won her 4th Specialty Best In Show under Australian Judge, Andre Beattie, at the Dominion Chihuahua Club Specialty Championship Show on Monday, 22 Sept, one of the first specialty satellite shows held in conjunction with the National Dog Show which starts on Thursday.
Even better, little Scotty took the Reserve Best in Show, making it a clean sweep for Kitaco. Fantastic results considering this was the highest number of entries in a Chihuahua Specialty Show in the South Island since before COVID.
We are so pleased with how well all the team did, and especially our fabulous junior handlers, Paige and Shelby, who showed Serena and Candy for us. Paige in particular deserves a shoutout, because Serena was being a wilful little toad, and Paige handled her brilliantly, taking the Reserve Best Bitch behind Ava, despite Serena’s shenanigans.
Thanks to Deb for showing Wendy with such skill, too. For a dog hardly ever in the show ring, she looked like a real pro.
The Australian Judge, Andrew Beattie, was very gentle with the Chihuahuas and they put their best foot forward for him. It’s so nice when you get lucky with a judge like that. He was loaned to the Chihuahua Club by The Plains Kennel Association, who brought him to NZ for their All Breeds Show, so nobody was really sure what we were getting. It was great to discover our international judge really knew his Chihuahuas, because there have been shows in the past where we really had to wonder, LOL.
A big thank you to the wonderful team at Angels Professional Grooming Centre, too, who not only prepped the team before the shaow, but came along to cheer us on.
