Best in Show for Team Kitaco

What a weekend! We had the DCC Specialty Show on Friday and then two Toy Shows on Sunday. Delighted to report that under Chihuahua Specialist judge, Lavinia Mackenzie Goodwin, our gorgeous Ava (NZ CH Kitaco Smashed Avacado) took Best in Show, while Ben (Kitaco Ben de la Creme) took Best Puppy in Show, Tinky (Kitaco Mastermind) took Best Junior in Show and our darling Narci (GR CH, JNR GR CH, NZ CH Mystic Legion Narcissus) took Best Veteran in Show.

Other notable wins were Ava's younger sister, Briar (Kitaco Briar Rose), taking Best Reserve of Breed in the long coats behind her big sister, Ava, and Ben's sister, Katie (Kitaco Fibonacci Sequins) doing so well in her very first show. She did brilliantly for a pup who as never been in the ring before and has only attended 1 session at Show Training. She had so much fun, so it was a very positive experience for her.

On Sunday, we were still very tired from the speciality show so we had a much smaller team entered (only Ava and Ben) in the Toy shows. We were so pleased when Ava took the Best Bitch and Reserve of Breed in Show 1. Even better was Ben taking the Reserve Dog in a huge field and when the judge awarded Ava the Reserve of Breed, it was with the comment "One day, he'll beat them all, but today I'll have the bitch." Not the first time we've heard that from a judge, and it's so encouraging to get such excellent feedback.

In Show 2, Ava took Best of Breed and Ben took Puppy of Breed. In the Best Intermmediate in Show judging, the judge short listed Ava and a really lovely Cav, who was ultimately picked. So close, but so encouraging to be pulled out in the line-up. Ava is just about finished her physio treatment now, and it was so good to see her back to her sparky little self.

Thanks to the judges, and the DCC and CTDS committees for 3 very well run shows.
