Great news in the Kitaco inbox today! We have been awarded the DogzOnline New Zealand 2021 Long Coat Chihuahua Breeder of the Year! Not only that, we came in at #7 in the Toy Group Breeder of the Year rankings and ranked in the Top 50 of the National NZ Breeder of the Year competition.
But it gets better for Kitaco as our both our Chihuahuas and our Pom, Emma, cleaned up in the South Island rankings in the Show Dog of the Year event, the Best of Breed competition and the Rising Star competition, too.
Due to the way Dogzonline calculates their scores and the wide variance in numbers (there are 3 times as many Chis and 5 times as many Poms in the North Island as there are here in the South Island), in a competition where scores are allocated entirely from entry numbers, it's almost impossible for a South Island dog to win the NZ-wide competition. We gave it a good try, though, with Ava coming in 4th nationally, and missing out on the top Long Coat Chihuahua Best of Breed spot by less than 80 points and was snapping at the heels of the 3rd place winner, only 13 points behind.
Not only that, Ava managed to also place 2nd for the entire South Island Toy Group Rising Star competition. What a little legend!
Shout out, too to our other Kitaco pups, Alice and Briar, who despite very few shows this year, also managed to make it into the Top 10 and score several minor placings between them.
And let's not forget Emma Dilemma, our gorgeous Pom girl, currently residing in the North Island with her new baby, who managed motherhood and the Top Pomeranian in the South Island, all in the same year.
Our hearts are bursting with pride at how well our Kitaco Kids have performed this year. Let's hope 2022 is just as successful.
