Team Kitaco's sole representative in the NZ show ring this weekend was our lovely Russian Toy (looking very smug in the above photo!), handled by her co-owner, the always fabulous Amba Waghorn, at the Nelson District Kennel Association Shows.
Lady (Aust CH, NZ CH Nightwood Tsarina at Alucard (Imp Aus)) took her time, over the three shows, to reach her peak. She took Best of Breed in Show 1 (of course - only Russky in NZ!), but that was just the warm-up show, She then went on to take the Junior of Group in Show 2, but that, apparently was also just a warm up.
In Show 3, under judge Steven Meredith, Lady showed us what she could do and took the Reserve Best of Group!
Such an exciting time for Amba and for those of us who couldn't be there with our team-mate due to work committments, because thanks to NZ's wonderful posse of live-streamers, we got to watch the Toy judging and some of the other breed judging live on the big 60" screen at home.
It was almost as good as being there in person, only we didn't have to drive for 6 hours through the Lewis Pass to get to Nelson and then muck about setting up the gazebo when we got there, LOL.
We were so thrilled when Lady won the Reserve Best of Group and Junior of Group, they probably heard us cheering from Nelson!
Sadly, Lady didn't take the Junior in Show, but the judge very kindly extracted the prickle in her paw after she limped around the ring.
Congratulations to Lady and Amba! A well deserved win for a great team to top off a wonderful weekend!
