It's not often we pull the whole team out (including the retirees) but we considered the Canterbury Toy Dog Society Open Show a worthy event as we always like to support Open Shows and our up-and-coming judges.
Once again, the Chihuahuas were the largest entry in the Toy show (getting to be a thing down here in the South Island, lately), so we had our work cut our for us. Fortunately our valiant little Team Kitaco kids didn't let us down.
In the dog line-up, under judge, Jennifer Nield, Narci again beat his upstart little grandson, Ben, by taking the Best Dog, Best Veteran of Breed and then went on to take Best Veteran in Show! Ben took a respectable Best Junior of Breed and Reserve Best Dog behind his granddad.
In the bitch line-up, Tinky took Best Intermediate Bitch, Nikita took Best Open of Breed, Reserve Best Bitch and the Reserve Best of Breed, while Ava did us proud by taking the Best of Breed, Best Bitch and Best NZ Bred in Show.
Not a bad result, all in all. Narci continues his somewhat unexpected comeback and our matriarch, Nikita, despite having been in retirement since the last specialty show, really strutted her stuff like the Kita of old. Very proud of how our team performed and we had a great time, despite having to get up an hour early because daylight saving kicked in over night.
Back home for a snooze now while the hoomans and the fur kids try to catch up on that lost hour of sleep.
