This weekend saw us attending some local shows for the Canterbury Ladies Kennel Association, so it seemed only fitting that our little lady, Ava, (NZ CH Kitaco Smashed Avacado) rose to the occasion and took Best of Breed, Best NZ Bred of Breed and Best Bitch in both shows.
And speaking of the Kitaco ladies, we were so proud of Serena who managed to take the Reserve Bitch CC and Best Puppy of Breed in the first show.
Ben took Best Dog, Best Intermediate of Breed and Reserve Best of Breed in the first show and then went on to take his 7th Best Intermediate of Group in a row. His astonishing run of Group wins inevitably came to an end (as all things do) on day two, where he still finished with a creditable Reserve Dog CC and Best Intermediate of Breed.
By far, the most exciting thing that happened this weekend didn't happen at the show, but across the ditch in Australia, where Tracey was supposed to be returning to NZ from the Veterinary Reproduction Conference she was attending with her Repro Team in time for the shows. Their flight home was cancelled due to mechanical issues so they were bumped to another flight and won't land until the early hours of Monday morning.
Sadly, instead of being at the show in the rain and wind and then getting sunburnt in the heat, Tracey was forced to spend her extra time in Melbourne lolling about in a 5 star hotel room at Air New Zealand's expense. All of us here at Team Kitaco are trying (not very successfully) to rustle up some sympathy for her plight...
Thanks so much to Debra and her granddaughter, Paige, for helping out. Handy tip we discovered, too. If you send a little kid to the sponsor's gazebo with your Best of Breed and Reserve of Breed winner's card, you get way more loot than if a grownup fronts up to collect their prizes, LOL
Thanks to CLKA for some great shows. It was a pretty good weekend, all in all, with 2 Best of Breeds, a Reserve Best of Breed, a Best Intermediate of Group and 3 of the 4 CC's on offer.
