Tinky strikes again! This time in Obedience.

There is simply no stopping this girl. Last weekend she was winning multiple Championship Certificates as the Best Bitch and Reserve Best of Breed in Dunedin. This weekend she qualified for her Canine Good Basics (CGB) certificate.

In July 2017, the Canine Good Basics (CGB) programme was launched to enable handlers and owners to learn what is expected of a dog during its early learning stages of training as well as providing a potential step towards a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification.

Tinky (NZ CH Kitaco Mastermind) has been attending Obedience classes for several months now, and was tested in a number of different criteria for to earn this qualification:

  1. Accepting collar being held for a few steps

  2. Taking a treat nicely

  3. Handling/grooming by the handler

  4. Accepting approach and touch by an assessor

  5. Accepting a friendly dog

  6. Name recognition

  7. Lead walking

  8. Come when called

  9. Sit or down on cue

  10. 30 second stay

The examiner declared Tinky to be the nicest Chihuahua she had ever met and our Tinks passed with flying colours.

It wasn't all just TInky, though. Full credit must go to her owner, Debra, who has been an exceptional fur-mum and thanks to her dedication and hard work, is, in a large part, responsible for Tinky's amazing temperament and behaviour. Thanks Deb. It's great having you on Team Kitaco!

Next stop - the Canine Good Citizen certificate!
