You may not be aware, but our very own Dr Tracey Tonkin acts as the vet for the New Zealand Chihuahua Rescue Trust, volunteering her professional services at no charge to the Trust so the clinic where she works (owned by the brilliant and extraordinarily generous Dr Meredith Barth) - Tram Road Animal Care Services - need only bill the Trust for medications, surgery, x-rays, etc for the dogs they rescue.
The Trust had most of their rescue dogs out with foster carers the day the TV crew arrived to do their piece on the Trust so the camera crew asked if Tracey could bring some extra Chihuahuas along with her for visual impact. The Kitaco kids certainly did that!
The piece is cute but they left out so much that Casey and Tracey told them about their work in favour of some groan-worthy puns I think the journo had been dying to use for maybe years... LOL. But still, it was good publicity for the Trust and we are happy to support them, both as a kennel, as their friends and with our services. They do amazing work and seeing so many back-yard bred dogs get the medical care they need and awesome forever homes, is a reward in itself.
As a sign of our commitment to the Trust, $100 of our purchase price goes to the Trust whenever we sell a puppy. If you would like to donate to the NZ Chihuahua Rescue Trust, you can do so here.
